After a failed marriage in Malaysia Jenny and her youngest son (then high school aged) moved to the US. As fortune would have it they lived in the same apartment complex as my brother. He was smitten. Lou may have dated other girls but he had never introduced anyone else to the family.
In 1998 they were married. A few years later they became legal guardians to two of Jenny’s grandsons. Lou embraced his unexpected role as “Grandpa”
Around 2000 Jenny was diagnosed with ALS (Lou Gehrig’s disease). Although the doctors first felt she had only 2 years to live, the disease progressed slowly and Jenny held on to life year after year. Lou lovingly nursed his ailing wife, showing a tender, nurturing side I had never seen in him as we grew up. Sadly but mercifully on Wednesday morning Jenny succumbed the ravages of the disease.
Please remember Lou in your thoughts and prayers.
I’m so sorry. Those words don’t feel like enough. But I am so sorry for your loss.
