A snippet of history to go along with today’s Show & Tell.
July 14th is Bastille Day. That is it’s known as Bastille Day by the English speaking world, the French refer to this national holiday as La Fete Nationale. It commemorates the storming of the Bastille which was the culmination of the French Revolution.
A few French facts:
France’s Flag known as the “Tricolor” has been the official flag since 1830.
The Arc d’ Triomphe honors those who fought and died in the French Revolution and Napoleonic wars.
The Eiffel tower is the tallest structure in France and the most visited monument in the world.
Yes. I’m French and I just came back from a month there with my two youngest kids (teens) and we did visit my brother and his wife for several days (they live just minutes from Paris) and saw the Eiffel Tower, of course. It’s beautiful at night and it twinkles every hour for 5 minutes 🙂
Just found your blog today and spent several hours reading through your archives. I enjoy your thrift store posts and I’ve bookmarked a couple of recipes to print and try.
Welcome Natalie,
I’m delighted to have you as a new reader.
